ROAD WORK COMMITTEE

Overview of the Road Work Committee (RWC)

Purpose:

The tactical group of owners responsible for maintaining the roads within our community in the best possible condition given the budgetary constraints directed by the Board of Directors.

Focus:

  • Oversee water management on the roads to ensure minimal damage as possible, including cleaning ditches, cuñetas and alcantarillas. Advise the Board of Directors (BOD) of improvements that individual owners could make to assist in water management. Consult with individual owners as requested by the BOD.

  • Oversee vegetation management to ensure minimal damage to roads and water flow. Also ensure safety on the roads by maintaining and improving sight lines.

  • Manage the semi-annual road repair projects including analyzing the status of the roads, recommending to the BOD the project plan, participating in obtaining and comparing contractor quotes, recommending a contractor, supervising the contractor on the roads and managing the costs to the approved BOD budget.

  • Respond to extraordinary repairs during the year.

Limitations:

  • Individual owners should contact a BOD member regarding concerns about roads, water management and vegetation management. They should not direct those concerns to the RWC. If appropriate, the BOD will request the involvement of the RWC.

  • The BOD will communicate concerns directly with individual owners and not through the RWC.

  • The RWC is provided a BOD-approved budget and strives to work within the budget.
